Membership
What to Expect as a Member of Walla Walla Gleaners
You will receive a call or an email with the details of the gleaning event. You are not required to participate in all gleans but when you do, you are encouraged to pick enough to share produce with members who have volunteered in other ways but were unable to help at that particular glean.
In addition to a small annual membership fee, you or a member of your household are required to volunteer a minimum of four hours a month, which includes the time you spend gleaning. If more than one household member volunteers, each earns hours toward the four-hour requirement.
Membership is open to all. If you are unable to go to the fields or orchards to glean, volunteer hours can be fulfilled in a variety of other ways. You will be matched with a job that suits your skills, interests, and available time.
Prior to a gleaning event, all gleaners are trained in field safety rules and crop-specific harvesting instructions. Each gleaner signs a liability waiver.
Children are welcome to glean with their parents unless a farmer or gardener requests that the gleaning event be restricted to adults.
